Michael Grigoryan (sometimes also called Misha) is an 8-year-old student -of secondary school No. 3 n.a. Griboedov in Stepanakart. He also studies at the Voice of Artsakh producing center (vocals, piano, violin) and as its trainee has performed in France, Switzerland, Russia, Armenia, etc. Michael likes to attend rehearsals of older singers, to ride a bike, to watch his brother play the basketball, to watch football and basketball games.
His fancy dream is about singing with 12-year-old R. Loretti, 10-year-old M. Jackson, but in more realistic dreams he is singing with S. Wonder. His dearest desire is ‘to halt the war in Nagorno-Karabakh region and to give a lot of concerts’. The young artist is always happy if his friends, associates or he himself ‘do something good’. He likes to wear something green. The least favorite moment in the daily process of learning is the need to wake up early. Michael confesses, ‘I like everything else about my study, especially my Math classes!… Often, when my class-mates and I fool around, mimic and impersonate someone, they say I am good at parody! I was happy to demonstrate in front of my audience the way I impersonate Ph. Williams.’
Once at the airport, Michael and his Dad dropped behind their group. Michael tells, ‘We ran across and around nearly the entire airport, but it turned out … they were waiting for us in the next door sector! Fortunately, we were on time. I was 5 years old, and I cried, as at the moment it all wasn’t that funny and I was afraid that the group would fly to Paris without me.’ One of Michael’s favorite fiction characters is Old Hottab (Starik Hottabych). Michael have a small icon of Saint Mary. He explains, ‘She always helps me in everything. The first thing I put in the suitcase when packing, is her icon.’ Michael’s favorite holidays are his birthday and the National Day, because ‘on my day a small firework is arranged, a grand firework is always on the Day of Armenia! “.
He dreams about visiting Spain in the future, ‘I’ve heard about Indigo children, I have a song called ‘Indigo’, and I wonder what will happen in 100-200-300 years in future J .‘ He is fond of poems by A. Pushkin and poetry of Armenian poets. Misha’s Mom and sister say that he started singing when he was three years old. He remembers, ‘When I was taken for the first time to Lira Kocharian, the teacher who prepared me to the semi-finals of the ‘New Wave’, and also almost for a month after the visit, I did not issue a sound … She instructed me to listen to adult singers and not to worry. After a while, I dared to sing. By the way, since I turned 4 years old, when I was accepted into the creative group, I have heard the phrase “new wave”! I have seen many friends on the stage of the ‘New Wave’. And when my teacher said that I could also try to participate, I was so excited! Now I have about 20 songs in my repertoire. The list is going to grow bigger. But I chose to perform at the contest the most beautiful ones, which in tonality and meaning are dearest to my heart – I always sing them with pleasure.’
‘It is very important to me that while I am away, my friends are missing me. And they support me even at a distance. They advise me what to listen to and what to watch. Hope, at Artek I will perform properly: I’m inspired by the performances of many contestants in the past, and especially Andrey Boyko and Nastya Petrik. I wish to all ‘New Wave Junior’ participants a ‘nice game’, we are going to become good players in this game, I am looking forward to the beginning J!’
